Aquarium hobbyists have big dreams and expectations about their pets but they do not necessarily come to be. This is because of fatal mistakes that they make as beginners. Some of these mistakes are avoidable because they come from misinformation. Here are serious mistakes that can be avoided and will ensure that you have the best pet fish experience.
Being In A Hurry
The desire to have an aquarium should not override that of having a quality and beautiful one. Hobbyists fail to ask for information or get it from the wrong people. Have patience when setting up your aquarium and ensure that everything is done right. This will eliminate headaches and frustrations that come when your plans do not work.
Overfeeding Your Fish
Like human beings, fish have the potential to overeat. Know the right amounts to give depending on species and age. Pouring a lot of food into the tank causes them to over-feed which results in defecating and poisoning of the water. Follow instructions provided on the food and by the veterinarian. The feeding intervals should be once of twice a day.
Pet fish require enough space to live a comfortable life. They need space to move and also clean water that is not surrounded by waste. Each adult fish is entitled to 40 liters of water. Filtration of the water will help you clean the water and provide oxygen but it will not provide the space required. The fish species chosen must be compatible with each other. If they fight or require different water conditions, their performance will be affected.
Lack Of Plants
Plants are used to clean your water by removing nitrates. In the absence of plants, it means that these nitrates are not being removed. This will result in poisoned water that is likely to kill your pets. Each aquarium should have the right amounts of plants. Removal of nitrates makes the water nutritious and tasty for the fish.
Fish are living things and require regular medication. However, this medication should not be too much. A lot of medication poisons your water. Some pet fish owners fail to provide medication to their fish. This leaves them exposed to diseases and pests. Consult your veterinarian on appropriate medication for your pets to keep them healthy.
A healthy aquarium produces vibrant and beautiful fish. It reduces the level of attention demanded by the fish while increasing their activity. Regular consultations with your veterinarian will keep the aquarium in perfect working order.
With the COOLPIX W100, developer Nikon is ready to enhance entertainment in swimming pools, on the beach and in the ocean for young and old children. The camera even has a special child-adapted menu.
When it comes to underwater cameras, the first thing to consider is obviously the machine’s resistance: how many meters can it be immersed, and how resistant is it. In this regard, the Nikon Coolpix W100 has good features that are worth a high score. The camera responds to the IP68 standard, so it can withstand underwater at a maximum depth of 10 m per hour, and is completely sealed against dust and sand.
Nikon have a camera with great potential here
With a camera that works at a depth of 10 meters and can shoot over 13 megapixels, there are great opportunities for extra fun in the swimming pool, on the beach or in the ocean. But this is a camera for the younger audience; as the new Nikon camera, does not appeal to divers or sports enthusiasts. According to Nikon, much has been invested in user-friendliness, and the camera therefore have a special menu easy for children to navigate.
In addition to the camera’s waterproofness, it is robust enough to handle a fall from up to 1.8 meters in height. The camera can also handle temperatures down to -10 degrees, so the camera can also be a good company when hitting in the ski slope. Images can be transferred wirelessly with Bluetooth to a mobile or tablet, and video is recorded in HD quality.
Not the best, but certainly great
Then, of course, you must ensure that the photographic quality offered by an underwater camera is satisfactory. In this, the Nikon Coolpix W100 demonstrates discrete features, albeit far from the standards of the best models. It’s about an 7 on a scale of 10, when it comes to capturing quality.
By using the camera, it is always important to note how flexible it is and how easy it is to use. Also in this field, the Nikon Coolpix W100 is considered to be a good underwater camera, both because its use is very simple and because it has a fairly versatile degree.
In addition to all the basic functions, the camera have a fully automatic shutter mode where we only have to press the shutter button and the camera chooses the ideal settings for the image itself. There are 8 other modes that we can select by hand.
The concept behind Subnautica to gather raw materials to build bigger and more exciting things. This is more or less a standard in this genre of today. But the thing is that the world in Subnautica is so atmospheric, swimming in the depths and experiencing the darkness of a sunlit Mediterranean designs, while being replaced with very dark neon sparkling-designs underwater, is absolutely amazing . The strength of the game is the design that has been screwed with quite a bit. Certainly it has that Pixar-esque design with its own style, but the game still manages to find its own unique identity.
For Subnautica to be an beta-build with quite a little content, there is much to be found here. I have not encountered crashes or any bigger bugs. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to try the game on the highest settings; so maybe some problems will arise then. I chose between this game and another survival game named the Forest (which I intend to pick up later) and feel that there is huge potential, and I am already struck by the amount of things that exist in this magical world. I love games where it really feels like you’re entering a world, the concept, the story or the premise. There is actually a VR-version of Subnautica available as well. Exiting times indeed!
The Big Blue
Many have already written pre-reviews on Subnautica, which to some extent also illustrates the empty market of games based on underwater exploration. Something we only have a few games circling around. Although this game have a Robinson Crusoe kind of premise, it proves that there is a lot of potential for other developers to explore. And I hope Subnautica continues to grow bigger and more contentious and eventually become a great experience when released fully.
Something magical with underwater-games
Ever since pre-school, when I first played a game with an underwater theme, I have found that there is something very mysterious about this genre. That game was Ecco The Dolphin for the Sega Genesis, and it was more of a labyrinth where sharks and caves were found. Since then, a number of games have been created where the environment underwater has been a focus, ranging from U-boat-games to dive and shark-games. Because of my love of underwater-games, i’we had my eyes and ears on this well-received Early Access game – for quite some time!
An aquarium is a hobby that suits the vast majority of people, and can also provide fun for hours. There are fish and aquariums for all varieties and flavors and it is only the imagination that sets the limits. But it’s not just getting an aquarium, pouring into water and throwing in the fish and thinking everything will work out well. Aquarium purchases are accompanied by a large commitment. To simplify for those who will or just have an aquarium, we have compiled this page with care tips and tips to make it easier for you; as well as giving you the chance to avoid making all the classic novice errors that so many others have done before you.
Think through your Aquarium-purchase
Buying an aquarium in a haste will never turn out good. The first question you should ask yourself is: Do I really have time? An aquarium requires care and care for its inhabitants to feel good. How much are you prepared to commit to your aquarium and the animals that live there? Where should it be displayed? Does the insurance cover if the aquarium would leak leak and 100 liters of water runs out over the parquet floor? Nevertheless, it is your responsibility for the fish to feel good and have a healthy life.
Once you have decided that you are ready for a purchase, you should consider what type you want. There are of course a variety of different ones. Everything from small coupons to large furniture varieties. Feel free to mail us and ask for a good starter package that suits your taste.
Many beginners who want to start up with aquariums want to start with something easy, and maby have decided to get a goldfish or something in those lines. What many don’t know, is that a goldfish bowl of about 12 liters is harder to handle than an bigger tank of around 300 liters. The reason for this is that in a small bowl it is much more difficult to create a good balance for the fish, than in the larger aquarium because of the constant water changes that disturb the balance. This means that the fish are at greater risk of getting ill. For beginners, we recommend getting a tank of 60 liters or more to get a comfortable start of your new hobby.
The most beautiful of aquarium decorations is undoubtedly the one that gives the most impression of observing a biotope environment closest to its natural state. For this, we strive to conceal all electrical equipment behind plants, stones or other roots.
What is to be viewed from the bottom of the water through which one sees the plaster of the wall is different from time to time. Of course, there are the posters representing a background nature, but we do not really let ourselves be taken serious, although the latter still arranges quite a lot the aesthetic appearance.
On the other hand, we all dreamed of admiring fabulous resin decorations, telling us that their price was inaccessible and that their manufacture remained very tedious. Well no. On the contrary, it is very simple. The only problem is that it takes time and needs to be rigorous. But I assure you that this little work is worth the effort to invest, because the result is really up to the task.
As for the cost, the manufacture of the decor of my 200 liter tank on two of its sides has returned to me less than 30 €.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM
Equipment to be used:
– Extruded polystyrene (this is the one used for insulation). – Epoxy resin … Personally, I use the R123 from Soloplast supplied with its hardener. – Gloves (because the resin burns the fingers). – Various dyes, foodstuffs or not. – Sand of different granulometries (the sand of construction site is very suitable). – Brushes cheap, because these will be unusable after use. – Various cutting tools: cutters; Knives of different sizes, with and without teeth; limes … – A thermal stripper, very practical for finishes, but not mandatory. – Aquarophilic silicone.
The realization of the system:
First, measure the inside of the aquarium that will be destined to receive the decoration. If the tank has an internal decantation as was my case, it is the ideal opportunity for it to be hidden. I had opted to move it and make another PMMA that would have a shape more suited to the tank, and that would blend perfectly into the decor.
Before attacking, we must ask ourselves the question of the biotope that we want to achieve. It will be necessary to choose the thickness of the polystyrene according to this. A thickness of 4 cm is sufficient for a planted trough. On the other hand, a thickness of 10 cm may be better suited to an African cichlid or reef tank.
Once these different measures have been taken, all that remains is to cut the polystyrene block to the size of the aquarium, taking care to remove 1 cm on each length so that the block can then keep play when it is inserted In the tank.
The shaping of the decoration will begin now, with the sculpture of polystyrene. This phase is the longest and most tedious of the realization. Thus, before attacking, one must determine the form that the decoration must have. A rocky decoration will be different from a shore of earth … The sculpture must respect natural forms; For this, it is better to draw the different cuts to be made with a marker, so as to have an aproximative idea of the final result. To sculpt, any sharp object will be useful, and one must not be afraid to carve in depth so that the tortuous aspect is really highlighted.
Once this work has been completed, it is necessary to pass a slight stroke of the thermal stripper, so as to tighten the polystyrene balls and form a hard crust. It is necessary to take care with softness not to dig too much the polystyrene which melts very quickly under the effect of the heat.
The next step is to coat all sides of the epoxy resin decor. Polystyrene tends to release toxic solvents (styrene) in contact with water. This is why it must be coated with resin, even on the faces that will be glued to the glass of the aquarium.
The resin must be mixed with dye to achieve a natural effect. Here again, the color will be determined according to the expected result. I used earth from Siena and gray to get a “shoreline” effect. In addition, the use of dye makes it possible to see where one has passed and thus to avoid any lack. All that remains is to apply the resin to the decoration. Better to make small amounts of mixture because the resin dries relatively quickly.
Then comes the time of sanding. It is aesthetically interesting to use sand of various granulometries: this gives a more natural effect. For my part, I used construction sand.
